I'm Closing Blue Pine Arts | Part 1
I need to tell you something that will probably shock you.
On December 31st, 2026, I am closing our Blue Pine Arts online shop and stopping production indefinitely.
I am also looking for the right person to buy Blue Pine Arts and steward this company into its next era.
I don't know when BPA will reopen after December 31st. And if it does, it will most likely be under new ownership...
…which is a sentence I genuinely could not have imagined writing even six months ago.
You have bought our paints, painted on our paper, collected our sketchbooks, waited patiently for handmade pans to dry during Indian monsoons, replied to my emails, shared our work with other artists, and helped turn something I started in my bedroom into a global art supply brand.
You helped build this with us, and I want to share how I came to this decision.
The Question That Changed Everything
This whole decision started in June 2026.
My sister Srishti, who also runs operations for BPA, was pregnant with twins and suddenly needed to step away from work on her maternity leave earlier than we'd expected.
My immediate response was veeerrrryyyy Trupti-like (typical eldest daughter with ADHD).
“Okay… We'll figure it out. We'll hire someone. We'll rearrange operations. We'll make this work,” I told Nahush on our walk…
…because of course we would!! We have figured it out all these years, haven't we?
Then one day, after weeks of thinking about it, Nahush and I were walking around the lake on a sunny afternoon, and I had to ask myself a question I hadn't really allowed myself to ask before:
Do I actually want to carry Blue Pine Arts into the next decade of my life?
Not can I.
Of course I can.
But do I WANT to?
That question changed everything.
I didn't take this decision because Blue Pine Arts is struggling. Not at all!
Actually, 2026 has been one of our strongest years EVER.
We've grown 131% year over year. We've added thousands of new artists to our community. We've even expanded into retail!! We have a capable team, established products, systems, customers who come back again and again, and enormous room to grow.
I could for sure keep scaling it.
But Nahush and I are also leaving Canada. We're beginning this next chapter in Thailand, then travelling through India and Europe, and to be very honest... I do not know exactly where we're going to call our next permanent-ish home.
The uncertainty in this next phase of my life feels incredibly exciting (and nerve-wracking!) to me.
Like… what the F do you mean I get to travel around the world making art with my husband and my cats?!
But it has also made me look very carefully at what I want to give my energy to next.
Nine Years of Blue Pine Arts
I started making my own watercolor paints in 2017 because I couldn't find the quality of paints I wanted in India.
I was 25… a young thing with a delirious self-belief and the drive to hustle my butt off.
I got rejected by SO many pigment suppliers when I started making paints... But after persevering, I won out!!
I remember finally getting those glass pigment jars, unscrewing them like they contained treasure, making my first-ever color, Turmeric Yellow Ochre, obsessing over paint formulas, and eventually putting my first paints into the world.
Then people actually bought them!!!
Our first palettes sold out within an hour of launching.
Then they sold out again. And again!!
And somehow it all turned into a real company, with a studio and a team!!
Thousands upon thousands of handmade paint pans, beautiful Indian fabric-covered sketchbooks made for artists, all of them in happy packages travelling from our studio in India to artists in more than 35 countries.
But I am 35 now. Still young, but mature enough to realize certain things. :)
These 9 years I've spent building Blue Pine Arts…9 years is a long time to devote yourself to something.
And I feel... content.
Not burnt out or defeated, but… content. (Which, interestingly, is what my name “Trupti” means in Sanskrit.)
I don't believe every successful thing has to be dragged along forever simply because it is successful.
Sometimes you build something beautiful, take it as far as you are meant to take it, and then give somebody else the opportunity to imagine what comes next.
That is what I want for Blue Pine Arts.
And until we find that person, we are putting BPA into hibernation.
Before I Say Goodbye...
Our Blue Pine Arts Sunset Sale is live RIGHT NOW, with our final Holiday Collection dropping on November 13th, 2026!
Before I close down production, we're having one final Sunset Sale of all our remaining stock.
One important thing before you decide whether to shop now or wait: Shopping now gives you 30% OFF and first choice of ready-to-ship inventory.
We aren't planning traditional restocks, although limited preorders may open later using remaining materials, with fulfillment extending into January or February 2027.
So if there is a particular palette, paper, sketchbook, or handmade supply you've always wanted, shopping now gives you the best chance of getting exactly what you want.
Once something is gone, it may genuinely be gone from the Trupti era of Blue Pine Arts forever.

A huge, HUGE thank you for letting a dream that once existed in my heart become part of the way you make art.
What an absolute honor!!

P.S. If you're wondering why I would close something when the business is doing so well, I've written more about that in part 2 of this three part blog series: Read "Why I'm Closing a Successful Business?"
P.S. All Sunset Sale purchases are final, as we sell through our remaining inventory and materials. Since our products are handmade, natural variations and minor cosmetic imperfections that do not affect performance are not considered defects.
