After almost ten years of making handmade watercolor supplies for artists around the world,
Blue Pine Arts is going into hibernation.

On December 31st, 2026, we are closing our online shop and stopping operations indefinitely while I look for the right person to carry BPA into its next chapter.

I don’t know if or when Blue Pine Arts will return. If it does, it will most likely be under new ownership.

Until then, we are celebrating everything we built together with one final Sunset Sale.

Hi, I’m Trupti! I’m the Founder of Blue Pine Arts.

CAT-MOM, PROJECTOR HUMAN DESIGN, PERPETUAL STUDENT, MOUNTAIN LOVER.

I have first-hand experience of what happens when you follow your creative calling, and the good it can create in the world.

That is why I created this creative sanctuary where I see artists and creatives empowered at every stage of their growth.

In fact, I didn’t even pick up watercolors until I was 25 and on the verge of quitting my soul-sucking corporate job.

2017- THE OBSESSION BEGINS

At 25, as a stuck engineer in a new marketing job in Pune, I stumbled upon watercolors by accident. The healing and joy it brought to my perfectionist, eldest-daughter-with-ADHD mind sparked a daily creative obsession.

For accountability, I started posting on my new Instagram account on lunch breaks. I shared my journey authentically, and saw rapid growth in my skills and community. People started buying my art, so I needed archival, professional watercolor paints, which at the time were impossible to find in India.

I was so frustrated, I said “f*ck it, I’ll make them myself.” It wasn’t until my followers started asking for them that I thought “huh… paint-making can be a career?”

2018-19 - THE EARLY YEARS

One morning at work, I designed the BPA logo on a whim, feeling an instant click with my vision. This gave me the confidence to quit my job with a flourish and become a full-time artist on Feb 1st, 2018.

Perfecting my paint formula took time, so I hustled and created our Travel Tin Palettes, which sold out in just 3 hours. When my paints finally met my sky-high quality standards, we "soft launched" our Vintage Primary Palette on March 31st, 2018, selling out within an hour.

With high demand, my husband Nahush and sister Srishti joined forces, and we moved operations to our hometown Belgaum, crafting paints in my spare bedroom.

Simultaneously I was invited to teach on international platforms like Watercolor Summit and Skillshare. I had found my greatest passion - teaching!

2019 - THE SNOWBALL EFFECT

This was the year where everything snowballed. We kept selling out every shop update, our team grew to 5 people and we moved BPA to its own studio. We also collaborated with fabulous watercolorists around the world.

At the same time, I was teaching in-person workshops in Europe and India, and my online classes were reaching tens of thousands of students.
❖
That July, we created our first website and got an overwhelming response! We kept getting better and our people kept coming back, vouching fo us.

We were on a roll, when March 20, 2020 happened…

2020 - FROM SHUTDOWN TO EPIC COMEBACK

On March 20, 2020, BPA faced an abrupt shutdown. It was like the rug had been yanked out from under me—I had hundreds of orders to fulfill, employees to pay, and revenue streams suddenly halted.

Unsure of how long the storm would last, my tenacity kicked in. Rather than despairing over lost income, I seized the opportunity to rebrand BPA and launch my watercolor membership and our second website.

Through sheer determination, we emerged stronger than ever, achieving record-breaking sales. We crossed 6-figs in 2020 and multiple 6-figs in 2021!

Where We Are Now

Nearly ten years after I started making watercolor paints in my apartment, Blue Pine Arts has become a global handmade art supply brand serving artists around the world.

And now, I am ready to let this chapter change.

On December 31st, 2026, we are closing the Blue Pine Arts shop and stopping operations indefinitely while we search for the right person to take everything we have built into its next era.

I am incredibly proud of what this team and this community have created together. This is my life’s work, and it’s supremely cool that as an artist you can just invent jobs like this for yourself and your community!!

And until our doors close, we are going out with one heck of a final season (as is our style). ❤️

Meet Our Team

Meet our women-led team behind all the whoosh of love you experience when you buy our offerings

TRUPTI KARJINNI

Trupti quit her corporate job and founded Blue Pine Arts in Dec, 2017. She mulled our first paints and filmed her first watercolor course in her Pune apartment’s spare bedroom.

Trupti, a seasoned watercolor artist and our toughest critic, designs every BPA product as a tool for her own professional practice first, which is why discerning artists return for our superior products.

Favorite BPA color(s): I put them all in my Trupti’s Signature 24 Palette which are the ultimate mixing-colors to get most of the colors from our 100-color range.

SRISHTI KARJINNI-PAWAR

Srishti joined us in 2018. Since then she has been Trupti’s right-hand person in BPA, but really, she’s been Trupti’s RHP her whole life as Trupti’s little sister.

Srishti oversees all aspects of our business with a passionate heart and careful attention to detail. She runs our studio and operations in Belgaum, India with boundless energy. She also handles our customer care and creates content for our socials.

She is the magic maker behind our stunning photoshoots, and is someone you’d want in your corner if you’re in a crisis.

Favorite BPA color(s): All our pastel shades because they’re so pigmented and buttery, yet soft and glowing.

SONAM SAKHARE

Sonam is our expert paint maker. She is frighteningly good at making our multiple-pigment-paints, some of which are notoriously hard to make.

With her uncanny ability to plan things in advance, she keeps our studio on schedule, making sure that we quickly ship your BPA presents.

Sonam is a forever happy-go-lucky soul who has a gift for making everyone laugh.

Favorite BPA color(s): Trupti’s Grey, Trupti’s Indigo, Forest Green for their moody vibes

SALONI PAWAR-KALE

Saloni is our in-house artist and seamstress who makes all your stunning brushrolls! She’s also the talented artist behind a lot of our inspiring content on Instagram & website where she expertly demonstrates the magic of our various products

Saloni joined our team in 2018 after we had our first unexpectedly-huge Holiday sale.

Favorite BPA color(s): Lady Murasaki because of its brilliant shade of purple and its granulation.

NAHUSH CHOUDHARI

Nahush likes to say that he is whoever BPA needed him to be at various stages of our growth, and he’s right!

He was the first person to come onboard when Trupti listed 40 of our Travel Tin Palettes on Etsy in Feb, 2018, and she went to sleep when she had only 4 of them ready (in her defense, she wasn’t expecting to sell out her very first BPA launch!) The next few mornings, Nahush helped her fulfill the orders before going to work

He is our CFO, the videographer behind all our courses + Youtube videos, and overlooks our systems + process to keep BPA running smoothly behind-the-scenes.

Favorite BPA color(s): Berylmarine, I love the intensity of the bluish green and its granulation. Cobalt Blue because it looks like summer skies in Alberta. Orchid Glow shimmer watercolor because of its astonishing purple glow at certain angles.

ADARSH PAWAR

Adarsh is the gifted photographer behind BPA’s stunning imagery. His quiet nature allows him to capture the essence and craftsmanship of our art supplies like none other.

He is very easy to communicate with and knows how to take our vision and translate it into visual eye-candy.

Favorite BPA color(s): Trupti’s Grey, Trupti’s Indigo, Forest Green for their moody vibes

SATSUKI

Satsuki is our most stringent quality inspector and she's held this title even before BPA was conceived. She has worked hard since she was a kitten to make sure you get the best quality art supplies every time. The chonkier she's become, the higher her standards have risen.

Favorite BPA color(s): Satsuki metallic shimmer watercolor, since it's her namesake.

NOKEE

We confidently say that we make the best, most robust brushrolls because they've been personally tested by Nokee.

She loves to munch on brush hairs and our brushroll passed the test with flying colors when Nokee did her best to bite, claw and kick it to get to the brushes, and couldn't!

Favorite BPA color(s): Our Complete Earths Palette that reflect her earthy calico colors.
